How to File an HMS Benefit Claim Online

There are three simple steps employees need to follow for each covered screening when submitting a claim online. Employees can also submit a claim via mail or fax.

1. Submit screening information

Employees log in to the online employee portal to start a new claim, select the name of the completed screening, enter the date of the screening and submit. There are no additional forms needs from their physician.

2. We make a benefit decision

Employees will get confirmation we received their claim. We’ll look for applicable coverages, start reviewing their claim and make a decision the same day or within 48 hours of receipt.

3. Get benefit payments

After the claim is approved, employees will receive direct benefit payments days after submitting their claim.

Maddy and Liam’s Health Maintenance Screening Benefit Story3

A mother and young son talking with a doctor in an examination room

Liam was excited for the new school year. He looked forward to getting to know his new teacher and playing with friends at recess. Liam’s mom Maddy was on her way to completing their back-to-school to-do list. Visiting Liam’s primary physician for his annual physical exam was an item on the list.

At the exam, Liam’s physician completed a mental health screening. Maddy knows the mental health screening can support Liam’s continued well-being and that it’s a covered Health Maintenance Screening Benefit with her supplemental insurance through her employer.

While waiting in the physician’s office to wrap up the appointment, Maddy began submitting the Health Maintenance Screening Benefit claim online. Maddy:

  1. Logged into standard.com and started a new claim
  2. Entered information about Liam's screening
  3. Reviewed and submitted the claim in the online portal
  4. Got a confirmation that her claim was received

Supplemental Insurance May Include HMS

Give your workforce the option for protection from the financial blow of an accident, serious illness or injury or hospital stay. Employees receive direct payments to spend on anything they need — from copays and deductibles to child care and alternative therapies.
When an accident occurs, unexpected out-of-pocket costs can weigh on your employee. Accident insurance can help ease that burden.
While health insurance covers most medical costs, there are many expenses it doesn't cover. Critical Illness insurance can help bridge the expense gap.
When an employee needs in-hospital treatment or recovery, Hospital Indemnity insurance can ease that employee’s burdens.
