Decoding Dyslexia Oregon

Decoding Dyslexia
Educate. Advocate. Legislate.

We raise awareness, provide resources, empower the dyslexia community and advocate for change. We envision an Oregon where dyslexia is no longer a barrier to literacy, education and success.

What We Do

Dyslexia is a learning disability that makes reading challenging. As many as 15-20% of students struggle with dyslexia. Although dyslexia is the most common learning difference, it is pervasively misunderstood and often not talked about or remediated in schools. Since 2013, Decoding Dyslexia has offered more than 150 events for more than 7,000 educators, parents and children through our monthly lectures, special events, and kids' networking activities. Educators attend our lectures from across Oregon and are eager to learn more about dyslexia.

  • Consulting/Professional Services

Opportunities

  • Virtual: Ongoing

We believe literacy is one of the most powerful tools we have to create more equitable outcomes for all. We seek to make systems level changes at the university level and at the district level to improve literacy outcomes. We want literacy to become a basic human right rather than a privilege. Since dyslexia impacts 1 in every 5 students in our schools, we feel it is vital for our students, families, educators, and policy makers to be informed about what dyslexia is so they can support literacy growth for students with dyslexia. Systemic change is hard and we welcome your involvement.
