Villages NW
Neighbors Helping Neighbors Stay Neighbors

Village volunteers enable seniors to stay engaged in their community, expand their network of friends, and assist with small daily activities so they can safely age in their homes.

Community

What We Do

Older adults have become pioneers, discovering new and vibrant ways of navigating the 30 years we have added to the lifespan. The Villages of Villages NW are responding to this new terrain by connecting seniors to one another and to volunteers in their communities. Volunteers are the essence of the Village Movement forging strong, supportive and fun relationships with older adults empowering them to be engaged in their community, remain in charge of their lives, and to age with dignity and independence. Getting connected makes a difference.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Stay Neighbors

80% of seniors want to age-in-place in their own homes or communities. Virtual Villages can help them reach this goal with new friends close to home, opportunities to use their lifelong skills and talents to help others, and volunteers who give rides, make minor repairs and assist with occasional household chores.

All of us, no matter our age, have a need to contribute and be valued. We have villagers who no longer drive or who have mobility issues who can lead a discussion on current events or design a flyer. The volunteer coordinating a craft group might on another day need gutters cleaned or a faucet repaired. Volunteers with flexible work schedules can help villagers get to doctor visits. Others can share their expertise crafting a marketing campaign or addressing IT issues. Sometimes volunteering is the healthiest thing we can do.
