The City of Tampa is pleased to offer Group Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance to eligible employees through Standard Insurance Company (The Standard). This site explains the coverage available and provides resources to help you take advantage of them.

Basic Life and AD&D Coverage

Group Life insurance can help provide financial support and stability to your loved ones if you pass away.

Active Employees

The City of Tampa provides a basic amount of Life and AD&D insurance at no cost to you if you are an eligible active employee. Your Basic Life and AD&D coverage becomes effective on the first day of the calendar month that follows or coincides with 90 days as a member.

Your Basic Life coverage includes:

  • Travel Assistance: Offers aid before and during your trip, including visa information, health inoculation recommendations, credit card and passport replacement and connection to medical care providers
  • Life Services Toolkit: Provides resources for financial planning, estate planning assistance, health and wellness, identity theft prevention and funeral arrangements

Retired Employees

You may elect a basic amount of Life insurance if you are an eligible retired employee. You must apply and agree to pay premium before your coverage becomes effective.

Enrollment

Active Employees: To enroll in Additional Life insurance, please complete the enrollment form within 31 days of your date of hire or within 31 days of your Qualified Status Change (QSC). You may also enroll during your annual enrollment period.

Retired Employees: To enroll in Basic Life insurance, please complete the enrollment form within 31 days of your retirement date.

File a Claim

Contact the City of Tampa to file a Group Life insurance claim at 813.274.5757. They will be able to provide you with the information needed to ensure your claim is processed quickly and accurately.
