Friends of Trees inspires people to improve the world around them through a simple solution: planting trees. We recognize that not everyone has equal access to the many benefits of trees and easily-accessed natural areas. Help us work on this issue?
What We Do
As a community driven organization we foster an atmosphere of inclusion and support, and we strive to build places that are safer and healthy for all. We accomplish this through authentic community conversation; unique partnerships; relevant programming; and attracting and retaining diverse staff and supporters. Since our founding in 1989, FOT has planted 800,000+ trees and native plants with thousands of volunteers in 120+ neighborhoods in six counties across two states (OR and WA). Friends of Trees greens our region while growing community.

Friends of Trees is incensed and stands in solidarity with the Black community. We add our voice to the many groups and institutions calling for justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Aubrey, and too many others.
Just as trees are connected via their root systems and intertwine underground with fungi to exchange nutrients, carbon, and water in order to survive and thrive, so too are our human communities connected. When white supremacy and police brutality affect some, it is a blight on us all.
Friends of Trees is responding to the call for action and encourages you to join.
