The mission of Open School is to empower students who have been under-served and under-estimated. Our programs support students on their journey to break limiting beliefs, navigate systemic oppression and build their life goals.
What We Do
Open School stands at the forefront of the pursuit of equitable education. With over 70% of our students identifying as BIPOC and 70% qualifying for free meals, we serve those most affected by educational disparities and yet achieve graduation rates higher than national and state standards. We constantly innovate to address opportunity gaps that put students at risk of not completing high school. Both of our programs, Step Up and Open School East, help students in grades 9-12 get on track to graduate and transition into post-secondary pathways.

- In person: Ongoing
Our students consistently face complex socio-economic systems that impact their ability to show up and stay in school. Historic marginalization, coupled with years of unprecedented challenges, have disproportionately impacted our kids and created hurdles for their academic, economic, and physical and emotional wellbeing. Our experience in nurturing our students toward their inner resiliency coupled with outside supports and resources is centered in the strength or our relationships and long standing in community.
