MESA equips teachers to help underserved middle and high school students excel in STEM through hands-on invention education. We empower students to problem-solve, communicate and collaborate, prepping them to be talented leaders for the future.
What We Do
This school year, our volunteer programs will provide virtual and in-person opportunities to interact with MESA students across Oregon. Our volunteer roles include competition judges, mentors, STEM coaches, guest speakers and more. Though many of our volunteers are from STEM fields, we often need experts from outside of STEM. This year we are specifically looking for food industry professionals to be clients for student invention teams. For over 35 years, we’ve made it our mission to bring equity in STEM education to students of color, low-income youth and girls, students who may never experience these opportunities elsewhere. With the right network of support, MESA students are capable of unlocking solutions to the world’s toughest problems, such as eliminating poverty and disease, conserving finite resources and creating renewable energy sources. When you volunteer with Oregon MESA, we are able to expand our service areas, extend our programming and offer life-changing opportunities to more students.
