What We Do
Growing Gardens uses the experience of growing food in schools, backyards, and correctional facilities to cultivate healthy, equitable, communities. All of our programs are focused on providing skills in sustainable gardening through education, 1:1 support, and community connecting workshops and events to support food security, health and wellness, and life skills. Our programs provide fresh produce to people in the programs that are also shared in communities, schools and facilities' kitchens, and area food banks.

If our food system is to survive post-COVID-19, we must do better. The current crisis is giving us the opportunity to confront major system-wide failures and decide what practices we want to continue, allowing or turning away from because we have the privilege to keep ignoring them. We have the chance to move in a direction that authentically partners with historically marginalized communities, shifts power, and makes space for the communities most impacted to lead and shape the future of our food systems.
