New Platinum Advantage Policies for CT, DE and DC
Starting today, we’ll issue Platinum Advantage policies for Connecticut, Delaware and District of Columbia on the Interstate Compact policy.
The changes for the Delaware and District of Columbia policies don’t affect feature or rider availability. In Connecticut, applicants will have more choices to customize their policies. Previously, the Catastrophic Disability Rider, the Student Loan Rider and the Family Care Benefit were not available in Connecticut. Now applicants for new policies can choose to purchase the Catastrophic Disability Benefit and Student Loan riders. And the Family Care Benefit will be included in the base policy. See Transition Rules.
Wyoming-Specific Policy
In addition, we’ll issue Platinum Advantage policies on a Wyoming-specific policy. There are few differences from the Interstate Compact policy and all features and benefits are available. See the Non-Compact States Platinum Advantage Annotated Sample Policy for policy details.
Connecticut Platinum Advantage Increases
Please note that all future increases on fully underwritten base policies in Connecticut will include the Family Care Benefit. The Family Care Benefit will not be applied to previously issued base policies when coverage is increased.
Here’s an example of a potential Family Care Benefit claim for this situation:
A Connecticut policyowner’s base policy was issued before March 11, 2022, for a $5,000 basic monthly benefit. After March 11, 2022, an increase is issued for $1,000. If the policyowner were to submit a Family Care Benefit claim, the policyowner would be eligible for only $1,000 in monthly benefits. Total potential claim payout would be up to the six-month maximum of $6,000. Please see the Family Care Benefit flyer for more details on this important benefit.
